Oatmeal-chocolate Chip Cookies

1 cup flour (sifted)
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
3/4 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
1/3 cup milk
1 cup chocolate chips
3 cup rolled oats
1 cup walnuts (chopped)

Sift first 5 ingredients (left to right) into bowl; add shortening, brown sugar, eggs and half the milk. Beat until smooth about 2 minutes; fold in remaining milk, chocolate chips, rolled oats and walnuts. Drop from teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet; bake in 375-degree oven for 12 to 15 minutes.
