Mock Crackling Bread
breads
1 cup yellow cornmeal
1 cup all purpose flour
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon plus 1 ts baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup shortening, melted
1 egg, beaten
10 slice bacon, cooked/crumbled
1 creole celery sauce
Combine first six ingredients, add milk, shortening, and egg mixing well. Stir in bacon. Pour batter into a well greased 8 inch square pan. Bake at 425 degrees for 25 minutes or until lightly browned. Cut into squares, and serve with Creole Celery Sauce.
