Cheese Dumplings

3 tablespoon shortening
1 1/2 cup flour
2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup shredded sharp cheddar
3/4 cup milk

Cut shortening into flour; baking powder and salt in medium bowl until mixture resembles fine crumbs. Stir in cheese and milk until blended. Drop dough by 10 to 12 spoonfuls onto casserole/stew and cook uncovered for 10 minutes. Cover and cook 10 minutes longer.
