Crockpot Split Pea Soup

1.00 (1-lb) package split peas
1.00 ham bone (with some meat
1 left on) or
2.00 ham hocks
1.00 carrot; diced
1.00 onion; diced
1.00 stalk celery; diced
2.00 quart water
1.00 teaspoon salt
0.25 teaspoon pepper

Combine all ingredients in slow-cooking pot. Cover and cook on LOW for 8 to 10 hours. Remove ham bone; cut meat off, dice, and return meat to soup.
