Oven Barbecued Chicken

1 fryer chicken; (2 1/2 to 3 pounds), cut
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup vinegar
3 tablespoon vegetable oil
1/2 cup chili sauce; or catsup
3 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoon onion; chopped (optional)

Preheat oven to 350* (moderate). Combine all ingedients except chicken in saucepan, place over heat, and simmer for 5-10 minutes. Place chicken in a large baking pan. Pour half of the barbecue sauce over chicken and bake, uncovered, for about 45-60 minutes. Baste with remaining barbecue sauce every 15 minutes during cooking. American Heart Association 1968-1972
