Kourambiethes
cookies, dessert, greek, holiday
1 cup butter; softened
1/4 cup powdered sugar
1 egg yolk
1/2 teaspoon soda
2 tablespoon whiskey
3 cup all-purpose flour (to 3-1/2)
1 whole cloves
1 powdered sugar
Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy; add egg yolk. Combine soda and whiskey; add to creamed mixture. Add flour, 1 cup at a time; mix and knead by hand, adding enough flour to make a soft dough.
Shape as desired into crescents or oblong balls. Insert a whole clove in center of each cookie. Bake on ungreased cookie wheets at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes. Dust generously with powdered sugar while cookies are warm.
