Soft Molasses Cookies

1 cup sugar
1 cup shortening
1 egg
1 cup molasses
1 cup sour milk or buttermilk
4 1/2 cup flour
3 tablespoon flour
4 teaspoon baking soda
2 1/2 teaspoon ginger

Mix sugar, shortening, egg and molasses in bowl. Then mix flour, soda, salt and ginger together. Add milk & flour one after another; blend together. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets. Bake 7 minutes in 350F. This recipe is from my grandmother in Nova Scotia's recipe box.
