&1: (optional - adding fiber but not carbs here) I love the protein shakes! I use them as both meal replacements and as snacks. They're not only a terrific source of protein, but satisfy my sweet tooth quite nicely. I recommend either egg or whey proteins; in my opinion, the soy-based proteins are awful. I use Optimum and Designer brands, but others are out there, too. A lot of people seem to like the Twin Lab products available at WalMart. I get my protein powders at GNC locally, but have also ordered from various low cab web sites, and have even gotten some through Ebay. The real trick to keeping the protein shakes low carb is to use heavy cream and water instead of milk. Here's my chocolate recipe: (See Ingredients) Whirl the whole thing up in the blender. (Pulse works best for crunching up the ice cubes.) The end result will have a consistency like a Wendy's Frosty. Omit the ice cubes, and you can just drink it. You are only limited by your taste buds and your imagination!
