Cinnamon Spiced Banana Nut Bread

1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup brown sugar; packed
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
4 egg whites
1/2 cup buttermilk
1/3 cup unsweetened applesauce
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup bananas; ripe, mashed
1/2 cup walnuts; chopped
Preheat the oven to 350°. Spray a 9" x 5" x 3" loaf pan with non-stick spray and set aside. In a large bowl, stir together the flour, whole wheat flour, brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon and baking soda. Make a well in the center of the mixture. In another large bowl, beat the egg whites until foamy. Stir in the buttermilk, applesauce, and vanilla. Then stir in the bananas until well blended. Add the banana mixture to the flour mixture and stir just until moistened. Fold in the walnuts. Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 45 to 55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool the bread in the pan for 10 minutes. Then remove the bread and cool completely on a wire rack before slicing. (Per serving: 150 calories; 1.5 g fat).
