Cheeseburger Casserole

1 lb ground beef
1/4 cup chopped onion
8 oz can tomato sauce
1/4 cup catsup
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1/2 lb american cheese slices
7 oz can refrigerator biscuits

BROWN THE GROUND BEEF AND ONIONS IN A SKILLET. DRAIN OFF THE FAT. ADD TOMATO SAUCE, CATSUP AND PEPPER. HEAT MIXTURE. ALTERNATE MEAT MIXTURE AND CHEESE SLICES IN AN UNGREASED 1 1/2 QUART CASSEROLE. ARRANGE BISCUITS AROUND EDGE OF CASSEROLE. BAKE AT 400 F. FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES OR TIL BISCUITS ARE GOLDEN BROWN.
