Basil & Cheese Dumplings

1 tablespoon butter or margarine
1 tablespoon fresh chives; snipped -or-
1 tablespoon green onion; sliced
1/2 teaspoon dried basil leaf
1/2 cup creamed cottage cheese (4oz)
1 cup all-purpose flour; sifted
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder

Melt butter or margarine in a small skillet. Add chives or green onion and basil. Cook, Stirring constantly, until herbs soften. Remove skillet from heat. Stir in cottrage cheese; set aside. Sift together flour, salt and baking powder into a medium bowl. Add cottage-cheese mixture. Stir until combined. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls into simmering soup. Cover soup and simmer until dumpling are firms, about 15 minutes. Makes about 12.
