Red Cabbage


german, vegetables

2 tablespoon vegetable oil
2 small onions, sliced
2 lb red cabbage, shredded
2 tablespoon vinegar
1 salt to taste
1 teaspoon sugar
1 large apple, tart * or
1/2 cup applesauce
1/2 cup red wine
1/2 cup beef broth, hot

* Core and peel apple, then fine chop it.
